Hello everyone! I’m delighted to be able to talk with author D. Lieber today. She is with us for an interview introduction. I’m sure you’ll enjoy learning more about A Very Witchy Yuletide and about the author. I’ll hand over the stage to D. Lieber.
What is your greatest temptation:
In food: Anything that smells savory or sweet. At the moment, it’s apples because I can’t have them anymore.
In clothes: Hats. I look adorable in them. I also love fun socks.
What is your greatest weakness (example: buying shoes)? Being drawn into arguments with someone who is not logical. You know what? My intolerance for lack of logic in general.
If you could have any kind of car, what would it be? I can’t drive. I’m visually impaired. So, I guess a self-driving one?
Your dream home – mountains or ocean? Mountains. But I like living in the Midwest. There are hardly any natural disasters to worry about comparatively.
What inspired you to become a writer? *shrugs* I didn’t really have a choice. The words have to get out. I only decide whether to share them or not.
Do you have a daily writing routine? If so, please share. Yes and no. I write better in the mornings. Lately, I have been getting up, eating breakfast, writing a chapter (most of the time, I have to take a shower in the middle to think some plot or character problem through). I mentally slow down a lot in the afternoon. So, I try to get all my writing done before lunch.
What is your favorite book? The Count of Monte Cristo by Alexandre Dumas
What is your favorite movie? Ugh…that is way too hard. I like too many. Action, adventure, comedy, musicals, anime, Bollywood, noir, classics, fantasy, sci-fi, superhero…too many. But anything by Mel Brooks is sure to be good.
Who is your favorite historical figure? Oooo you are asking me some tough ones. Hmm. Catherine the Great is pretty epic, though the serfs likely didn’t think so. There are a lot of historical figures I admire within the context of their own history. The problem with historical figures is that they are products of their times, so it is hard to judge them by modern standards. Napoleon, for instance, did amazing things. But then again, he reinstated slavery in some of France’s colonies. That’s obviously not okay. On that note, two of my most hated are Christopher Columbus and Charlemagne. Also, Thomas Edison was a jerk, too.
If you were given the opportunity to spend a day with any person, living or dead, who would it be? Robin Williams. It would likely be random and fun.
In your books, who is your favorite hero and please introduce him? That’s a tough one. I really try to make my heroes crush-worthy. I have a favorite character in each of my books, so this is really hard. I’m going to have to go with Mitica. He is from Once in a Black Moon. He’s got a sad Superman vibe. He is a Fae wizard from Romania who is in Canada helping the First Nations and indigenous Fae as magic slowly dies around them.
Who is your favorite heroine and please introduce her? I’m going to answer in just the books that are published so far. I’ll have to say Erin. She is also from Once in a Black Moon. She is a modern journalist who is thrust through time into 1900 western Canada. She is funny and spunky. She is caring, and she’s a pacifist.
Would you date your favorite hero/heroine? I would, but he would be disappointed. I’m not his soul mate. Some of my side male characters I would date though are Rowan from Intended Bondmates and Andrei from The Exiled Otherkin. Those boys need some love.
New releases anytime soon? Yes! I just released A Very Witchy Yuletide, and my dieselpunk sci-fi adventure, The Treason of Robyn Hood, will be coming out March 2021.
GENRE: Contemporary pagan holiday romance

BLURB:
First love is hard to forget, and even harder to ignore…
Evergreen Pendre wasn’t planning on going home for Yule. But when her Mom tells her the old coven is coming for a visit, she wants to see everyone. Well, almost everyone.
After four and a half years, Sawyer Collins finally has a chance to reconnect with his first love, Eeva Pendre. He might have been too shy to tell her how he felt before, but he’s changed. And he’s determined not to let her slip away this time.
As the coven prepares for Yule, they are reminded that not everyone has the holiday spirit in this contemporary Pagan holiday romance.

Excerpt:
Sawyer looked up just as Eeva stopped short upon entering the living room. She was still in her pajamas: flannel plaid pants with an oversized hoodie and fuzzy socks. Her long, brown hair was dyed a dark green, and it was still messy from sleep.
His heart throbbed in his chest, and he held his breath as he met her deep ocean blue eyes. His memories hadn’t done her justice.
“Hey,” he said lamely. “It’s uh…been a while.” He cleared his throat, his own voice sounding hoarse and uneven in his ears.
She blinked as if she’d forgotten who he was then frowned. “Yeah, I suppose that happens in life… How is…everything? I mean, I hope you and your mom are doing all right.” Her tone was distant and polite. Formal.
His stomach clenched as his raised hopes deflated. “Yeah, everything’s fine. We’re both good. And you?”
“Same.”
As the strained silence grew between them, Sawyer grasped for something to say. Anything. “So…my mom says you’re graduating soon. What are you studying?” He knew very well she was studying history. It didn’t matter that he’d said more times than he could count that he didn’t care. The moment his mother mentioned her, he’d always internalized the information. And he’d taken more than a few glances at her social media profiles over the years, though he’d gotten better about that.
“Eeva!” his mother called, entering the room before they could struggle on in their conversation.
AUTHOR Bio and Links:
Lieber is an urban fantasy author with a wanderlust that would make a butterfly envious. When she isn’t planning her next physical adventure, she’s recklessly jumping from one fictional world to another. Her love of reading led her to earn a Bachelor’s in English from Wright State University.
Beyond her skeptic and slightly pessimistic mind, Lieber wants to believe. She has been many places—from Canada to England, France to Italy, Germany to Russia—believing that a better world comes from putting a face on “other.” She is a romantic idealist at heart, always fighting to keep her feet on the ground and her head in the clouds.
Lieber lives in Wisconsin with her husband (John) and cats (Yin and Nox).
