~~~~~~~
Today we have Gyan with us to answer some questions.  Thanks for stopping by, and let’s begin!
What is the meaning of your name?
I am Gyanhumara nic Hymar, daughter of Hymar and her consort, Ogryvan. My mother, whose name means “song,” named me her “rarest song,” for I was fated before birth to be the only daughter she would ever bear. Those who do not ken the Caledonach tongue call me by many other names: Vennevria… Guanhumara… Ganora… Gwenhwyfar… Guenevara… Guinevere. I am none of those women.
I am Gyanhumara.
Your position to choose a consort placed a large responsibility on your shoulders. At any point did you wish it never fell to you?
I was born to be the Exalted Heir-Bearer of Clan Argyll. Thus I have been trained for this sacred duty my entire life. Does a lion wish it had never been born a lion? There may come a day when I might regret having to wear the mantle of this responsibility, but it is not this day.
What advice can you give future warriors faced with decisions torn between loyalty and love?
One is loyal because one loves deeply and without reservation. How can there be a sundering betwixt the two? And if a sundering of loyalty does occur, then perhaps the love was never present from the start.
There are future generations who may say you were only a myth. How would you respond to them?
Your word “myth” is unknown to me. The Caledonaich have stories, and we have tales. The latter—which the Ròmanaich call fables—are invented to convey lessons and concepts for the purpose of teaching our children while entertaining them too. In these lessons we include tales of the Old Ones, though by Caledonach law only priests are permitted to utter the sacred tales. Our storytellers, trained from birth to possess vast unerring memories, are charged with the duty of preserving the stories of clan lore: births and deaths, marriages and annulments, battles and alliances, times of poverty and times of prosperity. The stories are passed from one storyteller to the next, with no variant of even the smallest word, such that the deeds they describe ring just as true today as they did on the day they occurred, many generations before.
My deeds have begun to be added to Storyteller Reuel’s collection, as they will continue to do until the day my death-lament is sung. One day, Reuel will pass them to his successor, and so on. For as long as even one Caledonach storyteller lives, my true story will be spoken.
Among the misty lochs and glens of ancient Scotland, duty wages war against love on the battlefield of opposing cultures and agendas.
BLURB:
Gyan is a Caledonian chieftainess by birth, a warrior and leader of warriors by training, and she is betrothed to Urien, a son of her clan’s deadliest enemy, by right of Arthur the Pendragon’s conquest of her people. For the sake of peace, Gyan is willing to sacrifice everything…perhaps even her very life, if her foreboding about Urien proves true.
Roman by his father, Brytoni by his mother, and denied hereditary rulership of his mother’s clan because of his mixed blood, Arthur has followed his father’s path to become Dux Britanniarum, the Pendragon: supreme commander of the northern Brytoni army. The Caledonians, Scots, Saxons, and Angles keep him too busy to dwell upon his loneliness…most of the time.
Dawnflight-FINAL-AmazonWhen Gyan and Arthur meet, each recognize within the other their soul’s mate. The treaty has preserved Gyan’s ancient right to marry any man, providing he is a Brytoni nobleman—but Arthur does not qualify. And the ambitious Urien, Arthur’s greatest political rival, shall not be so easily denied. If Gyan and Arthur cannot prevent Urien from plunging the Caledonians and Brytons back into war, their love will be doomed to remain unfulfilled forever.
Book Video: Audio Book Teaser:
LET’S MEET THE HEROINE!
Excerpt from Chapter 11: Merlin counsels Arthur about Gyan
Arthur strode to the wall of shelves. Amid the stacked scrolls stood Uther’s games helm. Arthur lifted it down to trace the intricate gold embossing. “His lust cost me the chieftainship of my clan.” He returned the helm to its shelf.
“If it hadn’t been for his lust, you wouldn’t be here now. And Britannia would be torn apart by her enemies like a doe in a pack of winter-starved wolves.” Not for the first time, Merlin was amazed at how God could bring forth good from an evil event. Arthur made no reply but continued to stare at his father’s helm. “Listen to me!” Arthur whirled. In that instant, Merlin knew no words would sway the son of Uther. So he surrendered. “At least, let her come to you of her own accord.”
“She won’t. Not if she honors the treaty.” Poignant disappointment paraded across his handsome face. “I do not qualify under the terms.” A harsh laugh escaped. “My terms.”
Cup in one hand, Merlin stood and laid the other on Arthur’s shoulder. “Take heart, lad.” The war might be lost, but this battle was his. And he wanted to celebrate. “If it is God’s will, it will happen eventually.”
Arthur shrugged the hand away. “I want it to happen now!”
Of all the foolish, mule-headed… how very like Uther, Merlin realized. But he reminded himself that Arthur had made the initial effort to seek advice, something his father had not done until it had been far too late.
GENRE:  Erotic Sci-Fi Romance
~~~~~~~~~~~~

BLURB:

Determined to finish her studies and restart the search for her missing parents, Tarnee’s life is thrown into chaos when she is kidnapped by a silver eyed stranger. Held captive by the captain of a pirate ship, Tarnee finds herself drawn to him despite her need to get home.

Tor’Arr has been searching the universe for his one and only, the woman who will complete him and knows when their eyes clash across a busy space station that he has found her. He will allow nothing to stand in way of claiming her as his, not even his crew. Thrust into a dangerous world where she must rely on Tor’Arr to keep her safe Tarnee must decide if she’s prepared to give up her dreams to be with a man who can be anything she desires.

Excerpt:

MediaKit_BookCover_SilversCaptiveClimbing off the bed, I inched towards the large vessel sitting on the floor, my curiosity getting the better of me. A silver liquid swirled inside—a beautiful metallic silver that reminded me of the strangers eyes.

Standing at the edge of the big tub, I stared down into the swirling silver liquid. I wanted to dip my fingers in it and feel its texture against my skin and to see if it was hot or cold. My mother had joked with me when I was a child that my curiosity would get me into trouble one day.

The silver liquid started to move as I stared down at it debating with myself whether I should touch it. It rose up in a column, a head forming, shoulders, arms, a torso, all forming out of the swirling liquid, until the shape of a man stood in the tub.

I stumbled back, my legs hitting the bed, overbalancing me. I sat down heavily. Shock coursed through me. The shape started to change, clothes starting to emerge, skin forming until the man with silver eyes stood looking at me.

His dark hair fell over the smooth plane of his forehead, the sharp cut of his cheekbones and the strength of his jaw highlighted by the soft lighting in the room. For a human, he was incredibly good looking. But he wasn’t human and I’d do well to remember that.

“What are you?” I asked staring into his silver eyes.

GENRE: Dark Fantasy

~~~~~~~~~~~~~
BLURB:
From New York Times Bestseller Mimi Jean Pamfiloff, Comes the New Standalone Story of Mack, a Continuation of the King Trilogy
 “THEY THINK KING IS EVIL, BUT HE’S GOT NOTHING ON ME.” – Mack
MY NAME IS MACK. And if I play my cards right, I will soon be dead. Permanently. Not even my powerful twin brother will be able to resurrect me. A good thing. Because a man like me has no business living. Not when I have killed. Not when I have betrayed everyone I have ever cared for. Not when I know I’m destined to do it again.
This is why I have come looking for her—the only one capable of ending me once and for all. But will she think I’m just another insane patient? Or will she believe the truth? I am thousands of years old, my heart too dark to be salvaged.
~~~~~

MY NAME IS TEDDI, short for Theodora. My entire life has been a canvas of grays, whites, and black. I can’t feel, I can’t understand joy, I’ve never truly lived. Until now. His name is Mack, and though he believes he’s cursed, my degree in psychology tells me otherwise. Besides, someone who’s capable of bringing so much light into my life can’t be anything but good.

But I can save him. If he’ll let me.

(STANDALONE STORY – BASED ON THE USA TODAY BESTSELLING KING TRILOGY)

~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Excerpt:
Darkness was the one thing in this world I didn’t care for—probably because I felt most comfortable with facts. Seeing objects equated seeing facts. There is the floor. There is the couch. Facts.
Guessing where things were—I think the leg of this table is around here somewhere—MediaKit_BookCover_Mackouch!—was inefficient, useless. It was why nightlights were invented.
So when I entered John Doe’s dark room, the first thing I wanted was to bring in some light.
“Mr. Doe?” I said to the dark figure seated in the corner of the small room, staring at me like an eerie scarecrow waiting to frighten the shit out of anything that crossed its path. “My name is Dr. Valentine. I’m the new director. May I turn on the lights so we can discuss the reason you are here?”
“I asked not to be disturbed.” The man’s deep, masculine voice felt like a cold, chilling slap. Yet strangely, it was also…Well, I didn’t know really. Hypnotic, perhaps.
I squinted, my eyes straining to see his face but only able to make out his silhouette—broad shoulders, short hair, and fit-looking arms from the shadows of biceps I was able to spot.
“That’s exactly why we need to talk,” I said. “It’s come to my attention that you are not here to seek therapy—”
“Leave.”
My mouth flapped for a moment. “I’m sorry, but did you—”
“I said leave,” he growled.
Sadly for him, intimidation didn’t work on me. Not that I was stupid and wouldn’t get out of harm’s way. The question was, did he intend to harm me?
“And if I don’t?” I asked, testing the waters. His response would tell me everything I needed to know. Reading people’s internal emotional state was another gift of mine.
I waited for a reply.
And then I waited some more.
He’s not going to answer me. Fine. This was silly and a completely unproductive use of my time. I would just have to see him with my own two eyes. My gift would do the rest.
“Okay. These lights are going—” I flipped the switch, and the moment my eyes met his, I was hit by a hard wave of…
“Holy fuck,” I gasped.
I flipped off the lights, turned, and left the room. Fuck. Fuck. Fuck. What was that?
BLURB:
Ally
The first time I saw Gabe in my sensual cupcake bakery, I had no idea who he was. All I knew was chiseled perfection like him could never really want a girl like me. That didn’t stop me from craving and lusting after everything I could never have. Success.
Gabe.
And I was trapped in a twisted frenemy relationship with my douche bag ex fiancee. I never would have dreamed who Gabe really was, what he wanted and why he wanted it.
Gabe
My f*cked up family taught me a lot. Take rather than give. Anything. Everything.
Ally made me feel clean. Whole. I’d do anything to have her and even more to keep her. In spite of my past but more importantly … because of it.
I took her tenuous control and worshiped her killer curves. I never suspected she’d steal my heart.
Excerpt:
perf5.000x8.000.inddBlackness and strange noises rang through the gloom. What was this? I floated through it, as though I didn’t have a body, couldn’t feel any sensations. I was pretty sure I’d died, but heaven was black and smoky. Or had I gone to hell?
Then, there were voices, strange tones which skipped and repeated.
“Miss?” A gravelly voice, deep and comforting pierced the despotic darkness. “Can you hear me?”
Strong arms enveloped me, lifting me from the floor. I cracked an eyelid and slammed it shut again immediately. The smoke remained thick and the burning was so bad I couldn’t see through the moisture pooling in my eyes, the flood of tears protecting them. The crackle of fire returned in a rush and my body turned rigid in response.
“It’s okay. I’ve got you,” he murmured, and folded me closer to his hard chest. Safe. I felt safe in his arms. He took measured steps. “Is there anyone else in here? Anyone who needs help.”
I shook my head as a bout of coughing took over any ability to speak. Shouts rang out, men rushed by, disturbing the smoke, creating a whirlwind of warm air which brushed the sweaty strands of hair clinging to my forehead. It felt like a film of smoke and perspiration had encased my entire body.
“Codsworth,” I choked.
“What?” he asked. He had to be a fireman. Fresh air now. Or, was it him? He had the most amazing smell. I couldn’t open my eyes, could hardly breathe, but the scent of some woodsy cologne — Gucci? — permeated my nostrils through the haze of soot that lingered there.
“Codsworth,” I repeated. “My cat. He’s upstairs.” I clutched his arm with all my remaining strength. “Please …”
“Don’t worry,” he replied. “I’ll get him for you.” He quickened his pace and I clung to him with arms like noodles, resting my head against the fire retardant suit. He was as hard as a rock and for some reason, I felt like everything would be okay as he took charge.
The air grew clearer; there was a rush of wind and sound. Sirens blared, people chattered.
“Oh my God, can you believe it,” a woman said nearby.
“It doesn’t look too bad.” That was a man’s voice. Spectators probably, but my eyes were too scratchy to open yet and I didn’t even want to try.
“Here, take her,” the firefighter carrying me said, his deep voice raspier with the smoke. Then he placed me on a bed, a stretcher. Fingers brushed my ear, and the heat of his breath penetrated. “I’ll come back after I’ve found Codsworth. You’re safe now,” he promised, all calm confidence.
My skin erupted in tingles as gooseflesh spread across my skin. I forced my eyes open, staring through the blur of tears, but he was already gone.
“Who—?”
“You’re fine now, just relax.” A woman in a paramedic outfit appeared beside me and placed an oxygen mask on my face.
I frowned at her, my eyes had cleared pretty fast, though my chest still felt croaky. My limbs were floppy too. None of it mattered compared to losing the bakery. Or Codsworth.
I tried to pull the mask off, but she stopped me.
“No, you rest now. There’ll be enough time for talking later.” The medic lifted a flashlight and checked one eye then the other. “Looks okay there.”
I let her carry on with er protocol, but I felt stronger by the minute. I’d inhaled a bit of smoke. I’d not been burned to a crisp. The blessed oxygen flooded my lungs, clearing my mind and body. But still, I was exhausted. To the bone.
Erin Michaelson spends her days teaching guitar and her nights on stage as her sexy alter-ego, Eva James. Music is her dream, her passion. All she wants is to say goodbye to a lifetime of scraping by, working two jobs, and paying for past mistakes. When a major record label exec hears her band play, she gets her big break. But life can be a real bitch, and meeting Chance now is just bad timing.
MediaKit_BookCover_CrashAndBurnProblem #1: The record label wants her to dump her band and move to L.A. Problem #2: She hadn’t counted on Chance Walker and the scorching heat of that first kiss. And last but not least is Problem #3: Is Chance really falling in love with the dull guitar teacher, or is he really just lusting after the sexy Eva James?
Will success make all of Erin’s dreams come true? Or will falling in love make them both crash and burn?
~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Excerpt:

Eva James, or Erin, or whatever name she wanted to call herself, was a wild card. She burned bright, took chances, and followed her heart. And he wanted to taste that wild side with her.

When Eva James disappeared down the hallway that led to the restrooms, he got up off his barstool. He took one step before Mitchell’s hand landed on his right arm and Jake’s on his left.

“Whoa. Where do you think you’re going?” Jake’s shit-eating grin said he already knew the answer to that question.

“I’m going to get her.”

Derek burst out laughing. “Let him go. I gotta see this train wreck.”

“Screw you, Derek.”

Even Mitchell was grinning now, but he let go of Chance’s arm. “Go for it, brother. She’s going to love you, bad boy. Just so you know, that tie of yours can be used for all kinds of things besides wearing it in court.”

Derek was still chuckling. “We’ll have to pry her off your rebel ass with a crowbar.”

Chance flipped them all off and headed for the side of the stage to wait for her. He didn’t give a damn what any of his brothers said. So what if she wasn’t his normal type? Forget normal. He wanted her. He looked, and he wanted. End of story.

He was tired of playing it safe. Tired of taking care of other people’s problems. He needed a damn break. He wanted her to rattle his cage.

He wanted to talk to her, to touch her. And if she didn’t run scared? He damn sure was going to get her into his bed.

M.L. (Michele) Callahan is a sci-fi fanatic and full time writer whose earliest movie memories are of Luke Skywalker, Han Solo, and light sabers. (Still waiting on Santa to come through on that one.) Before the interview, I want to thank Linda for helping me celebrate my new release, That Monroe Girl, which is out today.

And Ilona has been kind enough to bare it all today!

What is your greatest temptation…

In men: Anyone with a sense of humor who can make me laugh.

In food: Gooey chocolate anything!

In clothes: I tend to wear casual clothes most of the time.

What is your greatest weakness? Well, besides chocolate, puppies and kittens tend to make me into mush. Yes, I’m one of the rare ones who likes both dogs and cats.

If you could have any kind of car, what would it be? I would say either a late fifties Thunderbird, or a mid-sixties Mustang. I think those were two of the coolest cars ever made.

Your dream home-mountains or ocean? That’s a hard one. I love both, but if I had to choose, I’d take the ocean. There’s nothing that can relax me faster than the surf coming in.

What inspired you to become a writer? I think I always wanted to write. When I was a child, I made books with stories I made up. My first book was about a snowman who melted on the last page. Funny, because I lived in Los Angeles at the time. In school, the teachers complimented me on my creative writing.

Do you have a daily writing routine? If so, please share. Morning is taken up with marketing and personal business. If I have time, I’ll work on my wip. After lunch, I get chores finished then work on writing for the rest of the afternoon. Evenings are a time I spend with Mark, my husband.

What is your favorite book? Little Women by Louisa Alcott. I’ve re-read it many times.

What is your favorite movie? Hands down, it’s Casablanca. Seen that many times.

Who is your favorite historical figure? For some reason, since I saw the movie Gettysburg, I’ve been drawn to Joshua Chamberlain. I’ve read about him both in the war and after. He seemed like such a brave but compassionate man.

In your books, who is your favorite hero and please introduce him? Even though I’ve loved every one of them, that includes bad boy Tim Olson in Iris Rainbow, I guess it’s true that the new one is always your favorite. Jake Spencer in That Monroe Girl, rejected the ranch life to become a news reporter in 1880s Tombstone. He’s tough, but he only uses his gun as a last resort.

Who is your favorite heroine and please introduce her? Ditto on the answer to the last question. Cat Monroe has been raised as a proper lady in Virginia, but finds life dismaying in the rough Arizona Territory. Deep down, she has more grit than even she realizes.

 What do you have out now? That Monroe Girl is being officially released today.

Blurb:

Cat Monroe arrives in Tombstone, Arizona searching for her father and brothers, who left Virginia for the West right after the Civil War. With the help of newspaper reporter Jake Spencer, she finds her family and a whole peck of trouble. She’s falling for the newspaperman, but she discovers his family and hers are feuding over water rights. When her father finally accepts that she is his daughter, he wants to marry her off to a rich neighbor who has a dark past.

Excerpt:

“I told you this wasn’t finished, Spencer!” And

he tried to land a fist on Jake’s jaw, an attempt which

was deflected. Jake grabbed him by the shoulders and

threw him to the floor. Henderson tripped Jake, andThatMonroeGirl_w10071_850

they rolled over, trading blows.

As the crowd gathered to watch the two

combatants, Sheriff Cortland and one of his deputies

pulled them apart. “What is going on here?”

Henderson pointed at Jake. “He was interfering

with my intended.”

Cat, who was watching with horror from the

sidelines, belted out, “I’m not your intended!”

The sheriff thought for a moment. “Mr. Henderson,

since you are who you are, I’m going to let you two sort

this out peacefully. If you can’t do it peacefully, I’m

putting you both in jail.”

By that time, Albert and John had joined them.

Henderson turned to Albert and pointed at Cat. “I wish

you would control your daughter.”

Cat felt her whole body tense with a desire to get a

gun and blow Henderson to kingdom come. “I can’t

take this any more!” she exploded. “Father, I told you

how I feel. If you insist on Mr. Henderson courting me,

I will have to move out.”

“Cat, listen—” Albert moved to put a hand on her

shoulder, but she shook him off.

“Leave me alone! Why can’t everybody leave me

alone!” She ran out the side door and into the carriage

lot, where she untied her mask, leaned on one of the

hitching posts, and burst into tears full of hurt, anger,

and frustration.

New releases anytime soon? I have a short mystery coming out. No release date yet. It’s with my characters from Prime Catch, Amos and Sarah Darcy.

Marketing Exec’s Widow

Letting go and rebuilding a life comes at a price.

Having come to terms with losing her husband, Jennifer is ready to move on with her life, but she faces opposition from her friends, in-laws, and brother-in-law, who see himself as her future husband. None of them know of Jen’s marital problems and she is afraid of their reaction when they learn she has a date for Friday night?
Hagan Chaney is not anything like Craig. He tempts Jen into the future but is she willing to give love another chance after the heartache she faced the 1st time around.

Excerpt –

“God, you must think I’m awful.”

“Not even in the ballpark as to what I think about you. Because I know you would never have said yes to a night out with me if you’d been happy in your marriage.”

His words hit her like a fist to the face and her head snapped backward, striking the wooden partition between the booths. Wow, how could he have guessed the truth when so many people who knew her hadn’t? Marketing Exec's Widow

She closed her eyes and searched for an answer. For so long, she’d kept her emotions bottled inside, not allowing anyone to see the loneliness or heartache her unhappy marriage had caused. What now? Lie, or admit the truth?

The vinyl cushion squeaked, and a hand touched her shoulder, pulling her from her stupor. Hagan slipped in beside her, his thigh bumped hers and his arm slid along the back of the seat. In the space of a few seconds, his large athletic body blocked her escape from the confining booth.

Nerves pulsed in an agitated rhythm. She couldn’t sit still, and opened her mouth to tell him to back off, but the thin lines of concern marring his brow killed the comment.

“Hey, there’s no reason to get upset.” He cupped a hand over her shoulder and drew her close. “I’m happy you said yes.”

Jolted by his sudden nearness, she exhaled, and then fought to draw air back into her lungs. His crisp, masculine scent acted like a seductive lure, and she had to fight the urge to bury her nose in the curve of his neck.
